WaxOut.nz is led by Maree O’Sullivan, an audiologist with over 30 years of professional experience in ear and hearing health across New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. Maree has worked in hospitals, audiology clinics, community care, universities, and with leading hearing aid manufacturers. Through this, she has built a depth of expertise in all aspects of audiology.
In 2014, Maree founded Auckland Hearing, a private audiology clinic, which she successfully managed until its acquisition by Dilworth Hearing in 2021. Drawing on this extensive experience, she founded Ear Care Auckland –WaxOut in 2024. She aimed to provide a safe, gentle, and clinically-led ear clearing service using microsuction.
At WaxOut, we focus on:

Professional Credentials – New Zealand Audiology Society
Maree holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), recognised by the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) as the benchmark for independent audiology practice in New Zealand. Achieving the CCC allows audiologists to become full Members of the NZAS (MNZAS). They can use the professional designation ‘Audiologist MNZAS’, and maintain full membership rights.
Members are required to maintain active NZAS membership, complete Continuing Education Points (CEP) annually, and hold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC). This ensures ongoing professional development and adherence to the highest standards of clinical care. These practices underpin the quality and safety of services provided at WaxOut.
